L Lawliet is a fictional character from the anime and manga series Death Note, created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. Known simply as L, he is a world-renowned detective tasked with capturing the mysterious serial killer known as "Kira," who is secretly the protagonist, Light Yagami.

L is instantly recognizable by his disheveled appearance: messy black hair, dark circles under his eyes, and a slouched posture. Despite his eccentric behavior—like eating sweets constantly and sitting crouched—L is a brilliant, analytical thinker with an unmatched ability to solve complex cases.

He plays a central role in the first half of the series, engaging in an intense psychological battle of wits with Light. L is highly secretive, rarely reveals his true identity, and often communicates through aliases or screens.

He is widely regarded as one of the most iconic and compelling fictional detectives in anime history.

L is also known as Hideki Ryuga and Ryuzaki.
