Spy Satellites

This mod adds spy satellites for the US (KH-13 Misty), Soviet Union (Zenit 6U), and China (JB-7 Yaogan). They are all equipped with advanced optics, ELINT, and surface search radars. The three versions are all functionally the same but have different 3D models.

The satellites fly at 24k knots (Mach 10) at 100k feet (in-game max) and are extremely not maneuverable by design. They can circumnavigate the globe in about 3 hours and have a turning radius of ~100nm. They are overpowered in terms of sensor capabilities, somewhat by design.

Because of the speed of the satellites, I haven't encountered ships wasting SAMs trying to intercept them, but I haven't done a ton of testing.

This is a kitbash and does not require Sealifter.

Known issues:
Note that the earth is not “round” in the game and you will hit a wall at the International Date Line (180 degrees longitude or middle of the Pacific Ocean).

Updates:
2025-06-06: Lowered altitude slightly to 99.5k ft to reduce flickering and maneuvering issues. It still seems to have issues following waypoints at 30-100x fast forward speeds.
