@rpgundark uhh ... have you played Terraria? Or Calamity Mod? Or any of the other major mods for Terraria? This one seems to have started with the nonsense, but quite frankly, most good games and mods I can think of have at least *some* weird nonsense in there, even if for no other reason than to remind people that it's just a game. Most of the time though, the best games are built as a passion project, and consequently, have bits of weird nonsense, inside jokes, and pop culture references everywhere, regardless of how serious the "main" game-play or story line is.
