The Boeing 737 is the second most popular airliner ever made, selling over 11,000 of units since 1966. The MAX series offers new engines, allowing for better efficiency and range. However, its reputation has been harmed by a series of deadly crashed caused by the aircraft's MCAS system, resulting in lower sales than its main competitior.
Sunset Airways uses 20 737 MAX 8 aircraft on all domestic and some international flights, with orders for 30 more. These will supplement and eventually replace older 737-800 and A320-200 aircraft, which are nearing the end of their effective service life.
