My good sir that category setup is not messy and is the fault of the hard coding of Paradox. If the portraits did not habe those categories they literally would not exist and likely you would only be able to play as one species.

These extra categories are for people who would like to be a mushroom and be an Anime Girl that barely looks legal.

Now good sir I bid thee adu and you are being kinda a Hoe. If you are not going to give it the time of day and all that jazz why tf would you be so self centered to send a reply. Nothing to do about feelings its just Not being a Hoe 101.

You download the mod. Try it. Dont like it. Then you send a response that says its just messy with no context whatsoever.

As I already explained to you first this is a portrait sets NOT A SPECIES PACK, and why I have to divide them into several categories, it's a compatibility concern due to hard coding limitation of the game, not a subject of your "I have never tried modding once but nobody understands it better than me" complex, if I do it like you imagination to "make them just be on species" then I will have to overwrite all the vanila portrait cats and making this SMALL SIMPLE MOD incompatible with other of major species mods you may want to try.
MAYBE TRY OPEN THE FILES AND SEE HOW THE PORTRAIT_CATEGORIES WORK FOR ONCE?

I'm not telling you do anything, but imo the portrait species is utterly messy, with a lot of unnecesary categories when this could just be one specie. What's the point of making one entry of each specie (aka. terran, molluscoid, fungoid, necroid, etc) if the portraits are all the same? Yes, they are a lot of variants, but imo it should been only ONE specie, named "Terranoid", and not like all the fucking species in game with its own entry on the portraits selection. I'm not suggesting to do anything really. I just have a lot of portraits and seeing 9 or more entries catalloged as "terrranoid - human" / "terranoid - molluscoid" / "terranoid - necroid" and so on with THE SAME PORTRAITS is just insanly messy in my opinion. Again, not asking, just telling my opinion that I found this messy and not worth the trouble.

First this is a portrait pack with portrait sets used on vanilla species, not a VANILLA PORTRAIT REPLACEMENT or SPECIES PACK.
Second if by "meesy" you mean I divided the sets by archetypes so you can use them for any vanilla species without common compatibility problem like all the other VANILLA PORTRAIT REPLACEMENT MODS. Then I suppose you are suggesting me overwrite all vanilla portrait_categories and stuff my sets in them and make this SIMPLE SMALL PORTAIT PACK a totally shitty compatibility one?
If I'm wrong about your opinion then define "messy" or write a better one with 0 compatibility issues for our good players plz.
