Also, to claim that Fungoids are "vanilla pawns" with these patches running confirms that you have spent little to no real time interacting with the Fungoid mod, let alone any of these patches.
If you want an actual answer to why anyone would want to use this patch, read the mod description. Although your comment comes across as coming from someone who hasn't actually tried to engage with the Fungoid mod in any way beyond it being yet another hostile xenotype to kill, which is not the intended audience for this patch. In fact it doesn't affect those types of players at all since they would never purposefully get themselves infected/recruit the ancient fungoid pawn.
And I would suggest running a fungoid colonist as well (alongside my other patches), makes for a very interesting xenotype to have as a colonist.
