HU MAV 182 Taurus

MÁV-START has been using class 182 locomotives (Siemens ES64U2 ‘Taurus’) in Hungarian passenger transport since around 2020. These locomotives were originally built for Deutsche Bahn and later taken over by various companies. Some of these locomotives were leased by MÁV-START via leasing companies such as Akiem and integrated into Hungarian passenger transport. They are mainly used on InterCity and express train services. These locomotives usually have two pantographs. A third pantograph was available on some variants, such as the ÖBB 1116 series, but was removed due to infrastructure changes at MÁV.
