Sound Stress Soother (thumping stress reduction)

描述
One hundred zombies running down the street to kill you? Meh.

Half a dozen zombies banging on a door somewhere in an apartment block? PANIC!

This mod limits how much stress you gain from sounds, which in practice means you will not instantly panic when you get too close to big mob of zombies banging on a security grill. Stress will still build up, but at a reduced rate configured in sandbox options.

The default cap of 15 seems like a good balance, but you can adjust this to taste. Yes, you can set it to zero and ignore all the bad noises.

To completely eliminate stress from cutting down tress, use this mod

Behind the scenes: Every tick the game adds up the stress of all stressful sounds, reduced by their distance (ignoring vertical height) from the player and increases your stress based on the total. This mod caps that increase.

A single zombie thumping on a door has a maximum stress value of 15 per tick if you stand right next to it, but only when the sound is playing - there's no stress gain between thumps. So the default cap of 15 isn't the same as one zombie banging on a door, unless you squint at the numbers and say "good enough".

FAQ

Can this mod be added/removed to an existing game?

Yes.

If a single zombie banging on my door is a stress value of 15, why doesn't my stress value go up by 15 per tick and max out in 1/10th of a second?

Because the sound stress is multiplied by 0.00002 before it is applied. The value in the sandbox options is before that multiplication, because it's easier for humans to deal with "15" than "0.0003"

@Naireem > You can convert it to B41 by moving the contents of the 42 folder one folder up (e.g. the mod.info file and media folder need to be in the folder that contains 42) I see no reason why this wouldn't work for B41.

Great mods you make friend!
And even better you haven't resorted to library mod dependencies all over the place.

Good news: New mod removes stress from chopping trees! https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3460704724

@martindirt if you turn on debug mode you'll see it is reducing tree chopping stress, but the tree chop stress is insanely high.

NepCappedStress: Audio Stress: 57.000000 -> 15.000000

That's the equivalent of four zombies banging on a door, and it's right next to you!

Unfortunately I can't differentiate sound stress based on source, but I might be able to remove tree chopping stress completely with a different mod.

Works for every noise? My char builds up stress while chopping trees. Iirc 3% with every hit on the tree... Building log walls is smokers hell.
