Q&A: Why Do I Need 104.2 m/s?

Q: 104.2 m/s doesn’t sound much faster than 92 m/s. Why should I care?
A: Because in Cosmoteer, every m/s past 90 costs exponentially more thrust per ton*. The thrust-to-speed curve is nonlinear, it's all diminishing returns. So going from 92 >> 104.2 isn’t just speed gain, it’s a massive propulsion increase.

And the same rule applies to your enemies.
If they want to catch you "you with our newest T700", they’ll need to dump huge amounts of investment into engines just to match your speed, usually at the cost of armor or weapons. Most won’t bother. Most can’t. That’s why almost every serious threat out there maxes out around 100 m/s.

After a recent game update, all E-series freighters are experiencing problems with passive cooling, especially with small thrusters. Be aware that excessive usage of these thrusters can cause them to burn out. It is advised that you do not use the E-series for now, or alternatively, disable overclocking on the E-series small thrusters while the problem is being resolved.

If you ever spot a design flaw or think of a good improvement, feel free to let me know. Even though I’m a bit busy right now, I can still tweak and update ship layouts when needed, I just don’t have time to polish the artwork at the moment.

Was searching for a station, saw this delicious looking freighter instead. Read the ad, immediately wanted the T700, but had to settle for an L700 since I didn't have enough coils and the industrial ship didn't have any space left for copper. Solved my issue for now, looking forward to upgrading to the T700 soon!
