The Sukhoi Su-17/22 is a Soviet-era variable-sweep wing fighter-bomber developed from the Su-7 to improve performance and mission flexibility. Designed for ground attack, close air support, and tactical strike missions, it features robust construction, high-speed capability, and a wide range of weapon options, including bombs, rockets, and guided missiles. The swing-wing design allows it to operate effectively at both low and high speeds, making it suitable for diverse combat scenarios. Exported under the Su-22 designation, it has seen service in numerous air forces worldwide and has participated in various regional conflicts since the 1970s.
