The Stinger machine gun was a modified AN/M2 .30 cal airplane machine gun turned into an infantry weapon by the addition of a BAR bipod, a Garand stock, a custom trigger and an iron sight. It was created by a group of marines in an effort to improve their current support weapons. Six were created but only one of them ended up being used during the Battle of Iwo Jima where they were seemingly destroyed or lost eventually.
