A: "How about making a booby-trapped propane tank that can trap special in the sea of fire & then explode?
B: "Ah... Another crazy idea again, huh...? Ah whatever, just do whatever you want..."
A: "Hehehehehe... Let's make a fun propane tank..."


As the duration of the booby-trapped propane tank is almost 10 seconds, I put the animated previews here instead:







So, this mod allows survivors to use a special feature on a propane tank instead of just throwing it to shoot from afar. The mechanisms will be explained later below.

List of features available on "blast inferno propanetank.txt" cfg file (there are only 2 for now):
  1. blast_inferno_dmg_multiplier: This controls the "Final Explosion" damage based on the multiplier. The multiplier is based on each target's current health. Special infected takes doubled damage. Min value= 0.01, max = 1. (Examples: if it's set to 0.25, tank with 8000 health will take 2000 damage, charger with 300 health will take 150 damage (doubled damage), witch with 1000 health will take 250 damage, etc).

  2. allow_damage_on_survivors: When enabled, survivors also take damage. (Examples: On multiplier set to 0.25, survivors with 60 health will take 15 damage, & those with 80 health will take 20 damage, etc).


Mechanisms of the "Booby-Trapped Propane Tank: Blasting Inferno Trap":
  • When picking a propane tank, a think function will be generated on the propane tank that allows the use of AIM/ SCOPE button.

  • To throw the booby-trapped propane tank, there are 2 ways: Normal Throw & No Gravity Throw. Here are the comparisons:
    Normal Throw
    No Gravity Throw
    - Default L4D2 throw
    - Hold RELOAD & then press FIRE to throw
    - It needs to be picked manually
    - It can set many traps without problem
    - The throw is way farther & ignores gravity
    - Press AIM/ SCOPE button to throw
    - Hold TAB +E to pick from afar (warp pick)
    - The "warp pick" makes it hard to set many traps

  • When "Booby-Trapped" mode is active, the propane tank will be ignited on fire, but it won't explode. It also won't take damage when shot.

  • The "Booby-Trapped" mode reacts to zombies (imagine it like a landmine for zombies). When it detects a zombie nearby, it will trigger flame for 6 seconds (less than half the duration of molotov that lasts for 15 seconds)

  • The flame triggered by "Booby-Trapped" mode will attract common infected in radius of 350 (5x melee range) to gather like moths (combination of pipe bomb & molotov).

  • The flame triggered by "Booby-Trapped" mode will pull special infected & tank to the center of the flame. Survivors will be pulled too if "allow_damage_on_survivors" is set to 1 (imagine getting sucked by a vacuum cleaner).

  • After 6 seconds, "Final Explosion" will be triggered. This explosion is way bigger than normal propane tank & covers radius of 350 from the center of explosion. Common infected will instantly die, while tank takes damage equal to the value set on "blast_inferno_dmg_multiplier". Special infected take doubled damage.

  • A special case for witch, she takes damage earlier when the "Booby-Trapped" mode is triggered & then gets burned (get ready to run if you throw this propane tank on a witch).

  • Survivors take damage only if "allow_damage_on_survivors" is enabled. Regardless of taking damage or not, survivors will stumble if they're in explosion radius.

  • "Final Explosion" bypasses walls & obstacles, so if you enable "allow_damage_on_survivors", just run immediately instead of taking cover. You have 6 seconds to run as far as possible, so it shouldn't be hard to avoid, unless if you throw it in a building that takes time to escape as soon as possible. But if you disable "allow_damage_on_survivors", there's no need to worry as you'll only stumble if you're too close to the explosion.


So, still getting some headache on tank with huge health (especially on Expert or special mods/ maps that increase tank's health)? Just prepare some propane tanks, & set some special traps :D . Now propane tanks become more valuable items to carry along the campaign.


NOTES:
  • If you throw propane tank using AIM/ SCOPE button, the propane tank will always be called when you press TAB + E if it hasn't exploded yet. If you want to reset it, try to drop it in normal way by switching to primary/ secondary weapon of other item.

since in vanilla, only gascan is extremly s tier of all tank
now i can kiss propane tank even more so XD

@Rastorgez , probably later we can discuss about that again when I start to make underbarrel shotgun series. But I can't promise when I'll make one, because to make an underbarrel shotgun, I'll need to study from "Pipe Shotgun" custom weapon mod by Rectus & make the simplified scripts so they can be applied in simpler ways on each gun.

(Not related to this mod) Could you make a script for the deagle for a LeMat revolver replacement where it works the same way as your under barrel grenade launchers, but instead of grenades it's a single shot underbarrel shotgun?

How about a version that does not vacuum, create fire but instantly detonates on proximity? Could you do that please?
