USS Helena - 1943

USS Helena was the second ship of the St.Louis subclass of cruisers. She was laid down in 1936 and commissioned in 1939, first seeing combat at Pearl Harbour where she sustained damage from a Japanese torpedo. Upon returning to service, Helena saw extensive action at Guadalcanal, fighting at battles including Cape Esperance and the First Battle at Guadalcanal. Helena would be lost in 1943 at the Battle of Kula Gulf after being hit by three torpedoes.
