Hunting Grounds introduces a more dynamic predator system to RimWorld, ensuring better ecosystem balance by spawning predators when the prey population increases.

🔹 Dynamic predator spawning based on prey count.
Predators appear when prey populations increase beyond a set threshold.

🔹 Configurable tracking system.
Choose whether to track each prey species individually or as a combined total.

🔹 Natural wildlife selection.
Predators are chosen from the biome’s existing wildlife, ensuring they fit naturally into the environment.

🔹 Season-aware spawning.
Predators will only appear in seasons suitable for their survival.

🔹 On the Prowl.
Predators preferentially spawn near their prey for more authentic encounters.

🔹 BoomMod or BoomMod Expanded – Boom creatures will only explode on death when the killing blow is a gunshot, burn, another explosion, or they are otherwise on fire at the time. This makes it safer for predators to hunt them.

Getting a really consistent red alert all of a sudden with this. I'm not sure at all, but I think a warg is trying to eat a corpse in my base?

@Lemniscate_Mike Yes, I’ll add this setting in the future. I’m quite busy at the moment, so it might take some time, but it’s now added on my TODO list.

@jagdpenguin That’s also a nice idea, but unfortunately it’s not something I can include in this mod. I’ll look into it separately though.

Any chance you could add a setting that used both individual animal AND/OR max animals?
Like if there's 10 boars = Spawn predators
And/Or if there's 30 total animals = spawn predators

I dont know if its possible, but could you make it so that animals will avoid pawns when they arent actively being hunted. I do kinda find it immersion breaking that a random dear can stumble around right next to my pawns and not run away. if a mod like that already exists that would be nice too.

This is one of my favorite mods, it helps keep the world feel so much more alive, especially with the large amount of animal mods I use that add a lot of 'prey'. Thank you for the mod!

@Vertigo Which animals on your map have higher population than the threshold you set in the mod settings?

Did you subscribe to mods that allow predators to hunt boom creatures (such as boomalopes)?

The default settings for my mod are 10 prey animals from the same species on the map, so if there are 10+ boomaloopes on the map, predators will start to spawn to hunt them, but they usually do not hunt creatures that explode by default (except if desperate, if I'm not mistaken), hence you need another mod to handle this, as seem in the mod description above.

Also, since the predator needs to be bigger than its prey, I'm not sure if there is anything in the vanilla game capable of hunting bigger animals such as Elephants, but since they reproduce veeeery slowly, this shouldn't become a problem. I believe T-Rexes from some dinosaur mods can hunt Elephants though.

My mod only spawns valid predators: if none is found, none is spawned.

So started to have an issue recently on 1.5. Keep getting bears spawning, yet they are ignoring the prey on the map (VE Animals: Gorillas) and just beelining into my base to setup shop until they are hungry and attacking my colonists/animals.

I currently have 5 bears just chilling right outside my base door right now. While the Gorillas, Elephants, Boomalopes, and Beavers keep expanding their populations. I am wondering if has something to do with Biome Transitions and Tropical Jungles as this is the first time since using this mod to have Tropical Jungles on my map.
