Caliburn Class Artillery-Frigate

A byproduct of an exotic Coalition project to weaponize reverse-engineered Dominion warp technology. Unlike some of its contemporaries, the Caliburn is fitted with a "wave-accelerator"-type coaxial weapon, which uses the large amounts of kinetic energy generated from the expansion and collapse of pockets in space to directly propel a massive 0.5x7.7m flechette projectile.
This system divides the strain of firing the weapon between a mechanical autoloader and the ship's main reactor system; allowing the weapon to be fired much faster than a purely energy-based weapon.

Fitted with an excessive amount of targeting equipment, Caliburn-Class ships were able to accurately strike Dominion orbital defenses at the edge of their effective range. However the complete loss of one of these ships to a near suicidal counterattack by drone-bombers has kept the very few Caliburn-Class ships produced withdrawn far behind the Coalition's absolute defense lines.
