This mod adds airlock connectors in two sizes to the game. Airlock connectors can be used to create airtight connections between grids without using merge blocks. They can only be connected to other airlock connectors of the same type.

AQD - A Quantum of Depth is a project of mine, encompassing multiple small and larger mods aimed at improving the gameplay experience and eventually overhauling larger parts of the game:




Airlock connectors are available in two sizes: 3x3 and 1x1 (5x5 for small grid):
  • Airlock Connector Flat
  • Small Airlock Connector Flat
  • Large Airlock Connector

The mod furthermore includes a new option in the airlock connector's terminals, that will offer alignment guidance to match the rotation of connectors to each other.

  • I have no plans to add additional sizes or variants of airlock connectors in the future.
  • The flat airlock connector only transmits power - it is not conveyored. The large connector is conveyored.
  • Airtightness is somewhat janky - there's not much that can be done about it, unfortunately.


  • BDCarrillo - For writing the script to restrict arbitrary connectors from connecting to these blocks, and to offer alignment guidance.
  • Welch9o4 - For providing me with beautiful screenshots of the blocks in action for the workshop page.

Well I was hosting from in game so zero lag. I'll try to test some more when I get back on the pc but I can only think of one other mod that could be doing this.

The mod doesn't have any code that can cause something like that. Does it still happen with only this mod in the world? Are you maybe encountering MP lag?

There's a bug in the large connector. It causes you to have to power the block off in order to disconnect because it auto reconnects within a split second of disconnecting. It also seemed to auto reconnect when I powered it back on not letting me get close enough to merge the vessel lines again for a seemless connection.

Even if you click unlock inside the terminal, it auto reconnects a split second later. There's no auto reconnect feature so this should not be happening.

Thanks for the mods! I'm hoping you might consider one or more of my suggestions for your next project...

A Conveyor and/or Industrial Pipe skinned piston mod for more seamless connections between subgrids.
A Conveyor and/or Industrial Pipe skinned hinge mod (same as above).
Industrial Pipe version of your conveyor expansion mod.
SG versions (I know you've mentioned no plans on this, but a girl can dream).

I've taken a crack at the first, and can confidently say 3d modelling is not my forte... I'll stick to programming.

the small airlock connector flat is completely airtight, is there any way to make it not airtight while unconnected?

This mod is fun and a must have if you remotly care about lore but I do have 3 problems with it.
1. It is called airlock connectors rather than docking ports.
2. The large connector is air tight in the middle instead of at the end.
3. The connectors count as an airtight block at all times. It should instead only count as an airtight block when locked or when aligned for docking. With a brief grace period of a second or so after undocking for any undocking based even controllers to work in.

I will admit that what I know about modding tells me that the third problem may be very hard and fiddley to fix in se1. But if you end up porting this to se2 you can probobly do the whole thing by making the block simultaniusly a connector and a door.

Hey, could you check if there's an issue with the large connector? I'm working with a script (https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3485188140) and I want to use it to lock and unlock the connector via the script, but it's not working. Other connectors are working.
