描述
Tiziano Vecellio, originally Argentinian export cruiser General Lavalle, was built in 1939, and was 83% complete by the time Argentina became unable to purchase her. OTO had a meeting the next day, and it was decided to finish her anyway. She rolled off the slipway in 1938, and was armed as a light cruiser, with dual purpose six inch guns, torpedo tubes not featured on her Argentinian sisters, and heavier AA. Vecellio had a long and eventful career during the war. Her most famous deployment was in 1943, when she, along with three destroyers, the battleship Antonio Meucci, and the heavy cruisers Ferrante Gonzaga, and Raffaello Sanzio engaged the Japanese Southwest Area Fleet. This battle was inconclusive, but Vecellio was struck twice by torpedoes. She, under her own power, limped to a friendly port in British India, and was repaired and returned to service. She was turned into a museum ship in 1957.
