Shieldmaidens were not the current day progressive girlbosses, they were wives, mothers, daughters and they worked to support the men around them that did the actual fighting. That aside there definitely were some tough women, and they would participate in defense as best they could in emergency, but that would mean the men are dead or gone, and it is in extremis.
Women were important in the viking world, they were cherished respected and loved, they were not some Hollywood boss bitch.

anyone with a brain or takes 5 min to do simple research, sheild maidens are more or less a myth theres been bodies of female vikings dug up with armor and weapons like they were soldiers, the whole thing is yet to be proven or unproven, but its realistic now no shi there wernt armys of women but realistically there would be strong women who wanted to fight and battle, esp with the culture of vikings with war, and yea sorry but theres plenty of women who would beat any of your asses in a fight so yea the whole sheild maidens never existing is a joke, maybe if you had any type of real interactions with women youd understand that not all women cook clean and take care of your sorry lazy ass.

barbarossa, i understand, but like, shieldmaidens existed probably, we dont know much about what there role was, but they most likely existed in some form, though they probably weren't a common sight.
