Springfield M1A SASS (Military Sniper)

The Springfield Armory M1A is an American civilian firearm developed from the M14 Battle Rifle in the 1970s by Springfield Armory. It is a compact gas-operated semi-automatic weapon chambered in 7.62×51mm NATO. For the most part, it is identical to the M14. The most notable difference is the removal of the M14's fire selector switch, rendering the rifle permanently semi-automatic. The term "M1A" is a proprietary title for a rifle of the M14 pattern produced by Springfield Armory. Early M1A rifles were made from leftover military surplus parts until Springfield Armory began manufacturing its own parts to produce the new M1A rifle.
