THE MARRINER RAILWAY

描述
I seriously hope you enjoy it.

This is my second layout submitted onto the workshop.
This layout is incredibly large and very detailed, so you might have some difficulty with frames and loading in some areas depending on the direction you're facing.

I've made the yards super dense and detailed, so its almost a switcher's paradise.

I've added Summer, Autumn, Spring, and Winter locations to make the layout feel more expansive and diverse.

I have planted about 16 trillion trees (trust me, I counted)

This layout has everything. That's all I gotta say.

Locations:

Eastmond City
Marriner Station-Yard
Sudder Mainline
Lowman Quarry
Glenbrook Circuit (Glenbrook Mainline)
Glenbrook Station
Greymouth Mainline
Greymouth Station
Corvid River
Corvid Truss Bridge
Heapher Forest
Heapher Hamlet
Annapurna Mountain Range
About 3 tunnel systems
16 TRILLION TREES

This has been a lot more detailed and ambitious than the previous layout I uploaded.

(The Emerald Railroad)

So if you'd like to support more layouts like this, give that one a go if you haven't already.

Also, why not fix and improved this one?

This is the notes I have for a 3D model from a heightmap in blender :

Blender

Add Box

Add Subdivision Surface (simple)

Render and view to 8

Add Displace

Add *Heightmap* texture on displace modifier

Set texture coordinates to UV

Set modifier Strength 0.025

Export as .obj 0.031

Done

For the scale, I saw you do it real size in blender and export at a scale of 0.031 on the export options.

@Jake4159 Hahaha, I feel like I learnt a lot from making this map as it became quite an arduous bit of work for my GPU as I neared the final stages of detailing. Currently I am working on a few real-life inspired railways that are around the area I grew up on, and for that I am slowly starting to implement 3D terrain from blender.

So far, it's been a bit challenging to properly sculpt and mould things while keeping the scale, but I think it's a learning process that I have to do on my own so I can deal with trial and error and ensure for best results when I upload more layouts. But thanks for the offer though.

And I promise to have less rocks on the track next time!

The round houses need to be a bit deeper, I can't fit my AC4400.

A bit too many rocks directly on the rails though. :steamsad:

If you see this within 2 days : https://cdn.steamusercontent.com/ugc/6297700248349719/F357B8C3B35A3B41C20A09C99D2A680F44E1646D/

This shows how my gpu runs your map.

I would even recommend a second version of this with a 3D landscape.

I am having trouble playing it.

As a real life train conductor, I love your map. Not too aggressive curves, no pointless railway switches so far and various biomes.

I am very motivated into showing you how to use 3D models for the landscape. This would allow you to make bigger maps with more fps.
