Operation Coup de Main

Your night-time mission is specifically to secure the Pont de Bénouville (Pegasus Bridge), preventing the Germans from destroying it. Defuse the 2 bombs on the far side of the bridge and clear the area of all German presence. Once that is done, await the piped arrival of Major John Howard.

The Pont de Ranville has already been captured.

IMPORTANT: Intel reports that interrupting the defusing of the bombs might result in detonation!

The Horsa Gliders have landed dangerously close to the bridge. Arm yourselves from the nearby supplies - they are marked by lights. Other supplies have been dropped around the area.
German troops from the 736th Grenadier Regiment are known to be present in force and may be supported by 21st Panzer Division. Look for any anti-tank weapons.... you will need them!

Intel also reports that a gunboat is patrolling that stretch of the Caen canal.

Expect to be harrassed by incoming mortar and sniper fire.
As it is night, you will be assisted by flares dropped over the target area.
Choose your initial Chalk (glider) location spawn point carefully.

This mission is sometimes incorrectly called Operation Deadstick. That was actually a glider exercise rather than this bridge/canal capture mission . Coup de Main is the correct name.

I have tried to keep to keep as close to the mission parameters and execution as possible but for various reasons I have deviated a bit. For example, the Germans did not have a chance to mine the bridge - although that was discussed. I have put the explosives in to just add a further dimension - the scenario should not be taken as a 100% history lesson! But its not far off :)
