Getting started

This game doesn't really support modern hardware all that well, but it can be easily fixed by downloading a mod from Nexusmods.

All you have to do is to get the mod from this link[www.nexusmods.com] and then download it. You'll need to create an account in case you've never used this website before.

Once you've got the file, you'll need to extract it. I personally recommend 7-Zip[www.7-zip.org] as it is a free and open source tool, but you can use whatever software you prefer.

Now, open up the game's directory. Right click > Manage > Browse local files as shown in this screenshot below

It should open the game's root folder. Move the .zip file you downloaded from Nexus into this folder and then extract it. The end result should look like this.

And that's it. Now you should be able to play the game without any issues on modern hardware. Enjoy!

I'm on Linux, the game worked perfectly with no modding. Maybe ditch Windows? Really, I didn't even know there were issues I was missing out on. 🙃

Doesn't work. Also don't want to tinker with CPU assign. Is there way to play this game without jumping hoops?

I don't think you realize that its more tedious to do the core diusabling cause it means you have to remember to swap back to normal after, so you can run most other games

Thanks. This is the setup guide from the Nexus page. Just make sure you don't drop the whole fix file into the game exe directory.

# Setup
To install the fix:

Extract all the contents of the ZIP into the Prototype install folder, next to prototypef.exe file
When prompted, replace both the binkw32.dll & prototypeenginef.dll files
Edit the prototype_fix.ini with any fixes you want
Run the game as normal, and the fixes should hopefully all take effect
