The Boeing 707 is part of the first generation of jet airliners, first entering service in 1958. It dominated air travel in the 1950s and 1960s and helped cement Boeing's place as the leading airliner manufacturer for the decades to come. Due to their age, very few are still flying today, mostly in military fleets as the E-3 Sentry or similar KC-135.
As a part of Project Sunrise, a project to expand Sunset Airways service, the airline acquired two Boeing 707-320s from a boneyard in Arizona. These aircraft were once privately owned by Sunset Corporation executives, and previously flew for Air China. They were re-engined with CFM56 engines from an Airbus A320, and operate on special occasions.
