As your hideout gets flooded in the middle of the night, you decide to leave it.

This was great! Wonderful room. Me and my friend @Nickstars03 beat it in 32 minutes, no bugs, no problems. The puzzles are excellently telegraphed all the way. Times where only one of us saw the *spookiness* were great Medan-esque feels. :steamhappy:

I can't solve the valves as I can't turn the top two at all. They are not even highlighting. Am I doing something wrong?

I suggest you take a look in the walkthrough for the puzzles in this room (section "Captains's Cabin - X"). There are 4 in total.
