Spiritual Successor to Better Engineer

With 42.9 ragdoll physics have been added to explosives, this also applies to the items in this mod.
HOWEVER.... currently only thrown explosives use the ragdoll mechanic, placed explosives (even vanilla) work the way you'd expect pre-42.9 explosives to work.
This doesn't mean you can't use triggered items with the cool new ragdoll effects, you just need to link your detonator & then equip the linked bomb to your primary & 'throw' the bomb to land where you want it to be placed.

Makes taking the engineer profession worth more than just the free generator knowledge.
  • A fourth level of remote trigger for extra long distance
  • New Noise Maker as loud as a house alarm
  • 5 New Bombs
  • Recipe to add shrapnel to vanilla Pipe Bombs making them lethal
  • New 1 point Trait to start with a toolbox of engineer goodies
  • Recipe magazine to unlock everything in the mod

Nothing in this mod is locked or gate kept behind the Engineer profession BUT a lot of the main ingredients in the recipes are items that only the engineer can craft by default.
If you have other mods that get you access to craft or loot the vanilla Bomb items then you’ll still be able to use 100% of this mod.

All the recipes are located in the crafting menu in a new tab called Extra Bombs



Extras

A 4th tier of remote detonator, lets you activate from a safe distance (has a 55 tile Range) so you won't get caught inside your own explosions

Flux powder, lets you make your own sparklers out of repurposed welding rods

Napalm Mix, found any of those kids pillows? the ones full of polystyrene balls. Yeah cut them open & mix with some gasoline, now thats some sticky flammable stuff.



Big Noise Generator

The power of a house alarm in your pocket.
Combine with the long range remote or set it on a timer to precisely gather the whole neighbourhood to one location.
Hmmm.... I wonder if a second long range remote linked to a bomb could be a useful combo.



Lightbulb Bomb

A very small explosive (1 tile) perfect for setting traps at choke points like doors or windows.
Due to the small range only the close range motion sensor & a remote trigger can be attached.
Although small, its glass fragments can still one-shot anyone in range & could on rare occasions start a fire.



Napalm bomb

You are legally required to shout ”I cast Fireball” when using these.
These will cover every tile in range with fire, including buildings, loot containers & you, so you’ve been warned.



Lunchbox Bomb

The complete opposite of the napalm Bomb, does not start fires but still does a lot of damage.
Best saved for use indoors or anywhere you care about.
Makes use of either a smoke bomb or an aerosol bomb (good reason to keep hold of that useless insect repellent can) & a choice of shrapnel from nails to lego blocks.

Also available in Pink



Mini Propane Bomb

Bigger range than a Pipe Bomb, not as big as a Propane Bomb.
What else were you going to do with those spare propane lantern bottles?



Propane Bomb

The pinnacle of pyromancy.
The average survivor couldn't even begin to fathom the engineering genius required to conceive of the mind bending level of intelligence to think up such a weapon of war....... duct tape a Pipe Bomb to the side of a Propane tank.
Because of the range of the explosion you CAN’T throw it far enough to not be in the danger zone, so you have to attach a timer or a motion sensor or a remote trigger for it to work.

Save game safe, B42 single player only.

@darkmoriarti I didn't mean your mod needed fixing, I was more curious about if you were going to tweak your added bombs accordingly to follow the new direction of the vanilla ones, as the shrapnel pipe bomb is now redundant for example.
Love your mod btw, I am actually doing a playthrough based entirely around it, it's a lot of fun

@Shiro the .12 updates didn't affect anything in this mod, given this mod adds new bombs rather than altering any of the vanilla items.
This does mean that the shrapnel pipebombs have next to no difference to the updated vanilla ones, but they're still used as recipe components to make the other larger items from this mod

@darkmoriarti B42.12 made those changes to the vanilla explosives:

- Reworked IsoTraps/Explosives damage and fire behavior:
- Pipe Bombs: Explosion Damage = High, Fire Risk = None
- Aerosol Bombs: Explosion Damage = Medium, Fire Risk = Low
- Molotov Cocktails: Explosion Damage = None, Fire Risk = Medium
- Flame Bombs: Explosion Damage = None, Fire Risk = High


Do you plan on updating this fantastic mod accordingly?
On a side note, how does the new vanilla pipe bomb compare to your shrapnel pipe bomb?

Posibilty for car bombs that throw broken car parts across the map. or fertilizer bombs?

@darkmoriarti Please add a bomb or fire explosion which uses those oxygen tanks. Oxygen tanks can be flammable or explosive in real life.

i see, i hope you can add sandbox option to make realistic non-incendiary pipebomb since there's mod for that but only for build 41

@ElZavier thats the functionality of the Lunchbox bomb, essentially a pipebomb without any fire tiles
