Finally some good east coast stuff??

The Erie Lackawanna Purchused 13 SD45-2s in 1972, and were the newest units ordered before Conrail. The units were specialy ordered with 5,000 gallon fual tanks for fast freight service between New York and Chicago, another spotting feature of these EL units was the Airhorns mounted on a ledge on the engineers side of the cab. After the Conrail split the units were placed into helper service at the horseshoe curve due to them having the newer HT-C trucks. In the early 90s the units were placed into service on Black Lick coal trains before being leased to other roads around 1997. After the Conrail split, 4 units were given to csx while NS got 6, CSX has since retired off its SD45-2s, While all 6 of NSs SD45-s are still active. One unit, NS 1700 was painted in the Erie Lackawanna paint scheme in 2016 and is still roaming NS rails today.
