You can add your own custom main menu music, to each background map!

Edits HL2's background maps (7) to each play a different music track. This won't do anything on it's own, you'll have to use a mod that uses this or insert your own mp3s, name them main_menu_bgm1.mp3 to main_menu_bgm7.mp3 and put them into 'hl2/sound/music/'

Unfortunately, HL2 doesn't load any mods from the start of the game but only if you change the map, you can do that by just switching through the hl2 and episodes menu. If that doesn't bother you, workshop version will work fine, but if you want it play music on startup main menu, i made instructions and files on my google drive

I think each background will appear when you're currently on a certain chapter in the game, but seems to pick a random once you've completed the game. Here's when each background map gets activated
background1 - (chapter 1 and 2)
background2 - (chapter 3 and 4)
background3 - (chapter 5 and 6)
background4 - (chapter 7 and 8)
background5 - (chapter 9 and 9a Entaglement)
background6 - (chapter 10 and 11)
background7 - (chapter 12 and 13)

@Take829 I downloaded the songs I wanted into mp3's and followed the steps like making a custom folder. downloading the vpk's from the google doc, and then adding another folder of any name, then sound, and then Music, and inside the music folder I put the mp3's and renamed them accordingly and it still didn't work, did I miss a step or confuse something?

@Gangsta Skeleton Did you get any of the music mods, or do you solely have this mod? This mod doesn't include any music on it's own, you'll either have to add your own, or get a music mod for this like this one https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3421826941

Mods not working for me, I followed the directions and when I load up it's just the background and normal sounds but no music at all

Game crashes when selecting Lost Coast with this mod enabled:

"13/rooftop_2_cop_1_blockhack - func_brush: UTIL_SetModel: not precached: *1"

Crash does not happen when this is the only mod I have disabled.

@Kuppelcryger I added the steam legacy version to the google drive, you can find it in the hl2 folder on there

Can you make it for the Legacy version (steam_legacy - Pre-20th Anniversary build) ? Because some maps have graphical bugs in Legacy, and the Ravenholm background crashes the game because of the smoke\fog.
