Adds marijuana items, recipes, a new 'high' moodle/stat for the player that dynamically buffs some stats while debuffing others, a new plant to farm and dry with unique trimming mechanics, and other weed related mechanics. Slips perfectly into Project Zomboid, vanilla or modded. Lightweight, intuitive, and realistic. I try to keep everything time-period accurate and vanilla feeling.

Weed, kief, hash, grinder, smokables, edibles, and more! Seamlessly integrated with Build 42! Enhaces new vanilla smoking mechanics! Fill your can pipe with tobacco OR weed! Empty tobacco cigarettes and refill them with your high quality ground bud! Top them off with kief from your grinder! Farming! Bake dank cookies! Don't let stress and boredom get you down this apocalypse! Weed has been known to have a wide variety of benefits on the body...
Decreases boredom, food sickness, unhappiness, discomfort, anger, and stress. Increases hunger, fatigue, thirst, morale, and panic. All of these stats change by different amounts dynamically based on how high your character is. For example, when your character starts coming down, they will start gaining hunger and becoming more thirsty.


STARLIT IS OPTIONAL
Starlit library is not a hard requirement. If you do not wish to add starlit to your game, simply do not select Add All when you subscribe. Reefer Madness was designed to work with or without it. It has no performance impact on the game whatsoever, and was developed by a Project Zomboid modding legend. You DO however NEED Moodle Framework by the amazing Tchernobill. Reefer Madness would not have been possible for me to make without it, so please go give all the steam point awards to Tchernobill's Moodle Framework if you enjoyed my mod.



Item spawn rates are customizable between 3 rates in Reefer Madness's sandbox settings, each 10x higher than the last. By default, it is set to 'Low'. You might come across a joint, rolled cig, or a little bud tucked away in bedroom dressers and nightstands, with a better chance in "redneck" homes. Occasionally you’ll find grinders, pipes, Zig-Zags, etc. as well. Drug lab supplies have a high chance of spawning weed items. Trimmers can turn up in barns, sheds, or tool stores, while the cooking mag pops up with other recipe books. I try to put things where I think they make sense, and I am always open and accepting of suggestions :)


NEW! FARMING FEATURES
Harvesting marijuana will now yield between 1 and 4 marijuana stalks. These stalks need to be dried on a small plant drying rack before they can be trimmed. To trim, grab your dried stalks from the rack and a sharp pair of scissors or trimmers, and get to work!



Bake cookies with your own homemade infused butter! Find "Legalize it! Volume 2" in the world next to other cooking magazines to get started!


Enhanced Vanilla Smoking Mechanics
Empty vanilla smoking items without dumping the tobacco on the floor. Refill empty cigarettes, cigarillos, repurposed papers, etc.


Custom Moodle with Dynamic Stat Changes
When your character is high, they will experience various stat changes that ramp up/down based on how high your character is. For example, your character will begin feeling hungry as their high wears off. You can either stay flying high, or feed your munchies!!


New Stoner trait that starts the player off with all edible recipes and Marijuana Growing Season known, as well as some starter items.


Highly customizable via sandbox settings!

I Don't Need a Lighter by Fingbel *

True Smoking by Ratamus *(Compatible together, but when lighting a smokable using IDNL, it will be consumed normally without True Smoking's mechanics)

HGO Expansion Marijuana works as the "Lemon Haze" strain in recipes, and grinders from either mod will work to grind weed from either mod. Please use more than one weed mod at your own risk, as there may be overlap that us developers may not currently know about.


This mod is a work in progress. Stay tuned for a fully fledged marijuana system designed to be a nice reward for your character. Feedback is welcome and appreciated :)

@everyone If you are having problems with stress maxing out, please remove "Stat Tweaks Lib" from your mods and try again. After some testing with only Stat Tweaks enabled, I have found that if the player gains any "stress from cigarettes", the "stress" stat will infinitely tick up for whatever reason. Again this is not a mod conflict between STL and Reefer Madness, removing my mod will not help you.

@Ronin That's great! I did not personally have the same luck fixing the issue with Stat Tweaks Lib with HGO enabled as well. More relevant info coming above ^

After a bit of fiddling yesterday the stress issue stopped. I am unsure if running HGO alongside Reefer Madness disabled the stress issue, or if removing the smoker trait/stoner trait in debug fixed it. Not too savvy on figuring out mod conflicts, but hope that might help!

@Ronin I will do some testing tomorrow morning. I have seen mods like true smoking and HGO push updates with patches to fix this stress issue I think is being described here.

I've also encountered the issue where smoking maxes out my stress. I've tried disabling the stress modifier in debug but i still get max stress. Happens for me anytime i smoke regardless if its rolled or a pipe etc.

but, tbh i dont know/think if the more traits fix even did anything, i just got it at the same time i was changing up my world settings

i changed some world settings around and got the more traits fix and it somehow fixed it completely, no idea how but im not complaining

@october Watching/listening to the news? If you go to page 3 of the comments you can skim a bit and see if it sounds like the same problem. They made some changes to the smoking system in the recent updates.
"There is a smoker bug that is probably vanilla based (when you have smoker & watch some TV you gain Stress rather than lose it)"
"Life&Living, Sports, Movie, & Music channels don't cause the stress reaction just News or Paw Pals..."

Let me know if it only happens when watching tv/listening to a radio channel, or if it's happening all the time. I released an update and tested it after the latest 42 update, and the mod wasn't affected by any of the changes anyways, so I'm curious what your situation is. Thanks.

this somehow managed to set my characters stress stat to above 100. i dont know how.
