Lore
"Pertamite" is an exonym. The average abhigamak thinks of himself as a Pertamite about as much as your average Englishman does an Earthling. Neither do most Pertamites even identify with one particular lord; To those scratching a living from the wastes, borders and politics more resemble the weather: something that passes overhead, transitory and out of mind, with the slight, ever-present threat of tempestuous annihilation. Instead, those on Pertam chiefly associate with their families and the occupations they inherit. It is these occupations that stratify Pertamite societies, though upon which rung one's family rests depends greatly on time and place.
The Queen of the Wastes, "risk-eater" and first abhigamak, challenged this precept. In the factories of Ayodya and the fields of conquest, all knew themselves citizens of the Court.
