České dráhy (ČD) acquired its first 1216 Taurus locomotives from the Austrian company RTS in September 2019. These locomotives were subsequently put into operation in 2019 and 2021.
In December 2021, locomotive 1216 952 was used in passenger service for the first time. On 9 December 2021, it hauled the EC 103 ‘Polonia’ from Warszawa Wschodnia to Vienna Central Station.
