The Karankawa (Joseph María)

Adds the Karankawa people, the indigenous Native Americans that inhabited the Texas Gulf Coast, under the fearsome Coapite Joseph María. The Karankawa were known for their ferocity, being successful in defending their homelands from great powers such as the French and Spanish empires. They were also well-known for their culture, performing ceremonies, wrestling for sport, and at times even consuming their foes. The Karankawa were thought to have gone extinct after the Spanish-Karankawa War and repeated assaults by Texan settlers. However, many Karankawa have defied odds and live on in the contemporary era as the Karankawa Kadla.
