This mod aims to represent the 2007–2008 period in the Iraq War, during which the United States implemented a surge strategy by sending around 20,000–30,000 additional troops. At the time, Iraq was experiencing severe ethno-sectarian violence, with Shi’a and Sunni groups engaged in increasingly deadly conflict. Insurgent groups like Al-Qaeda in Iraq were active, contributing to instability.

The surge aimed to reduce violence, support counterinsurgency efforts, and rebuild trust with Iraqi communities. While levels of violence declined significantly during and after the surge, its long-term impact remains debated. Iraq continued to face conflict and instability in the years that followed, including the eventual rise of ISIS.
