The retaliation mission is better if it spawns in the Resist HQ region but does not make a big difference. The roll for better loot or resist rumor scan makes the bigger difference.

No research needs to be switched as there will be no opportunity for any other reward.

Time: 10 am or 5 pm April 26

The high-ranking squad will be much more effective in quickly engaging and disposing of all enemies! Such approach will rescue as much civilians because of diverting enemy attention to them.

Note: The concealed Ranger can still rescue civilians but should reallocate focus on spotting the enemy first.

The Ranger needs to actively scout first as the rest of squad have no concealment.
The first pod may be detected on the very first turn, which translates to more civilians rescued.
The Sniper should be checked, if the enemy is within Squadsight.
The Squad will now have the first strike option to draw the enemy in.

The Sniper will initiate first without the Squad being on any Overwatch.
The remaining enemies will react and be taken out more effectively with their special abilities.
The Hail of Bullets will make the Sectoid more susceptible to subsequent attacks.
The rest of the Squad can finish the last enemy off quickly and proceed to hunt the next enemy pod.

The Ranger needs to get up on the closest building rooftop for the best view of the center.
She can continue advancing to find the next pod, once the area is clear.
The Squad will relocate to the top of the building and begin the next ambush setup.
Any soldier who have action points remaining can be on Overwatch, if the enemy was spotted.

The Sniper will initiate again to draw the enemy pod closer when the enemy is within range.
The entire Squad on Overwatch will most likely finish off the remaining enemies.
Any surviving enemy can be dealt with by the Ranger, as she can conceal again to scout the last pod.

The concealed Ranger will carefully scout for the next pod and use cover for less detection.
The final enemy pod will most likely be near the last civilian killed and within a building.
Their location may be too far to be engaged but some modifications can be made for the Sniper to attack during the enemy's turn.

The wall in front of the enemy will be cleared to increase the chance of Sniper's Kill Zone.
The rest of the Squad will be on Overwatch to take advantage of such opportunistic attack.
They do not need to take cover and just get close as possible to the enemy pod for Overwatch.
The enemy will not see the Squad until their turn and will only take up positions then.

They can be finished off on the following turn and may decide to still attack one civilian if any are in range.

Note: The Sniper's Kill Zone is preferred for multiple shots, in the event their movement triggers it.

Any remaining Faceless enemies will automatically spawn and charge at the soldiers.
The squad may not have time to react properly by being on higher ground to setup Overwatches.
Any surviving Faceless enemy can easily be taken out with double-attack abilities!

The Elerium research will be available soon after Gauss Weapons and Plated Research are complete.

The same early goal remains to keep soldiers healthy to be deployed continuously until the AWC is constructed.
