It makes no sense for the pulse rifle to use each plug like a conventional ammo cartridge. Not only does it make it less alien, but it also makes it very impractical compared to a conventional assault rifle. It's also cooler and more like something you would expect from the Combine if each plug is basically just a 30-round dark energy magazine with the actual magazine basically holding all the ammo the user needs.

Before anyone mentions the ammo pickups for it, Valve also made the ammo pickups for the MP7 and USP Match look giant compared to the actual ammo amount in them because they wanted the ammo to be easier to spot.

Think about it, people. The Combine literally defeated all of Earth's combined militaries in seven hours, use giant synthetic organisms with built-in energy weapons for war, and have harnessed dark energy as a way to power stuff. Why wouldn't they make an weapon radically different from a normal firearm for their infantry to use?

well I think he's right, changing Valve's alien reload tech to generic human reload is pretty cringe, same with changing cs 1.6/css animation to generic cod style, it removes what make it unique

But the realism or not of a reload doesn't really affect fun- until some moron decide one of them is cringe.

I love Valve but if there is one thing they don't know is how a gun works- including their own design.
