MFS UD-28 Phoenix SSTO Dropship

The UD-28 Phoenix is a Surface-to-space and Space-to-surface dropship, designed for transporting squads and their vehicles/cargo in one sortie, along with providing fire support against any enemy vehicles or bases that may be in the way. 4 rocket pods and a salvo script to manage them gives the Phoenix extraordinary firepower against strongholds that may pose a significant threat to infantry on the ground. In addition, a nose-mounted Gatling turret provides effective anti-personnel fire and precision targeting, while a dorsal Gatling turret provides defense against fighters and interceptors above the Phoenix.

A high thrust-to-weight ratio in addition to heavy armor on the underside of the Phoenix enhances survivability and helps compensate for the large amount of volatile hydrogen tanks across the vehicle that could explode if they were allowed to face direct fire. A built in cargo container and survival kit allow the Phoenix to operate as a forward base of operations once landed, able to be relocated and recalled if the need arises.
