Deinonychus - Prehistoric Kingdom: Dino 'Ditions Poseable Kit

"Deinonychus antirrhopus, the Terrible Claw, and for once the 'terrible' part of the name fits: Those sickle claws on its second toes were likely used to restrain prey as it attacked from above--not, as the movies would tell you, to disembowel outright. These animals are not monsters, but they're still animals. Make sure you have plenty of barriers between this one and your guests.

"It was this dromaeosaur's description in 1969 that helped torpedo the scientific image of dinosaurs as cold-blooded, stupid lizards doomed to extinction, and later was on the front lines with the establishment of their connection to our modern birds. Although in both cases, it took some time for the public to catch on."
