R33 Subway Car

It's time to step in and stand clear of the closing doors with the legendary R33 (Redbirds) Subway Car! Many have been waiting for another entry in the New York City Transit System to grace Transport Fever II and I'm proud to say that day has arrived!

New York City Subway R33 Mainline Red Birds created by St Louis Car Company between 1962 and 1963. Top Speed is 55mph. The R33ML was a staple to the NYCT fleet for several decades. They ultimately retired in 2003 when they were reefed. Only a handful of units remain to this day.

• When purchasing the vehicle from a Depot , you'll be given several roll sign choices to choose from. You can see these in the mod description picture. I've included all of the IRT numbers including several that have been retired.
  
  
• Random Car Numbers have been implemented on the exterior of the vehicle so that each car is not an identical number (Thanks TheMeatBallHero for the video tutorial!). I did my best to limit these numbers to be what would have appeared on the real deal, but there are limits so I hope that you understand. One thing the player will notice is that the vehicle will have counter for Iron Ore Resource. This is a placebo effect from the Random Numbers, however removing it would break the feature so please just ignore it. This has been fixed now. (Thank you Doug for your contribution!)
  
  
• The exterior has the classic "EXP" and "LOCAL" that the Redbirds are known for. They are for aesthetic purposes only.
  
  
• The Vehicle uses Third Rail Power in real life, therefore it is classified as a "DIESEL " to Transport Fever II. Feel free to use third rail track mods for realism, or continue to use catenary if you want.
  
  
• For the interior, we have several advertisements that pay homage to the Subway of the old days with witty but thoughtful messages and cartoon drawings. There is also a 1970s era edition of the NYCT Map, as well as several other advertisements. For those that like to ride along with their vehicles, you will have at least three different positions to view from each car.
  
  
• The Redbirds were known to have a display board on the interior that would show the first and last station of a line along with the name of that line. This has been implemented to an extent. You can see the First Station on the line and the line name. Unfortunately, the last station wasn't possible to implement due to every player having lines of different lengths, therefore I've substituted this to show the station that you are currently approaching. This will update upon automatically upon each station stop.
  
  
• A new Driver has been hired!
  
  
• An Asset version of the vehicle is available as well. The asset version does not come with roll signs since those trains are not in service. If you would like an Asset version with roll signs, feel free to use the Mod "Vehicle Asset Builder" and you will have them then.
  
  
• The audio for the vehicle was recorded by a family member for the purpose of being used for this project. We hope that you enjoy it! New Braking, Rolling, and clanking sounds are all present (Thanks MrCheesecake for helping explain how to do the soundset!)
  
  
• There are a few liberties that I've taken. For instance, the R33 Mainlines used to have Square Windows. For this mod I have given them the Picturesque Windows that the R33 "World's Fair" Variants are known for.

Last but not least, I've included the special gift of music with this release.

Outside of loving Trains, being a Gamer, and creating for Transport Fever II; I'm also a Musician. I've added one of my Songs into the game! (N0neGiv3N - Item Shop) I own the rights to this music and have not been compensated for it's creation from any entities. It is Video Game in nature. You do not need to do anything to enable this outside of enabling the mod itself. If you listen to the in-game music sound player, you can add the song into your game by going to the audio tab of the Game's Settings menu. A picture explaining this has been added to the Mod description.


Sell or get rid of all instances of the vehicle from your save, then disable the mod.

This Mod was a goal that was created at the end of 2023. It has cost all three facets (Time, Money, and Effort) to get it accomplished, but since the Redbirds are my favorite piece of Subway Equipment, it was all worth it in the end!
