This is a continuation of "The Great Darkness" mod, an alternate history mod taking place within a world where the Sun suddenly vanishes and most humanity succumbs to freezing temperatures. Those who escaped to the biggest cities in time will attempt to pick up the pieces of their once-thriving civilization. In a bitterly frozen world, the fires of humanity are dwindling evermore.

This is now the official "The Great Darkness" mod which was initially left abandoned. The Project Leiber team has formed to revive this mod and have taken onboard the original mod developer on our team as well (thank you Vriska for your support and enthusiasm). It is merely meant to demonstrate a proof of concept as well as to demonstrate future plans for this project. At this point, it is not meant to be a playable mod or is anywhere near completion, however updates will be frequent and a Discord server is nearly ready.

We hope that new and planned changes will help flesh out the story better and that you will come with us on this journey into an unforgiving, unrelentingly frostbitten world, a world without our mother star where humanity is at the whim of the void.

PLANNED CHANGES:

NEW ZEALAND/ZEELANDIA SAFE ZONE
-Continuation of initiatives designed to increase the population and reconnect with the remnants of the world
-DEM: Expeditions into Australia and India to re-establish the Commonwealth and fight against freezing temps
-ALT DEM: Potential Nixon path seeking a unification path with the remains of the US/UK governments
-COM: Workers Haven of Aotearoa with a path to colonize Indonesia and Polynesia (possibly Japan)
-FASCIST: Reverse British colonization of Europe

GAMEPLAY
-Changing terrains from deserts, forests, grasslands, and marshes to tundra
-Rain instead of all other weather
-Ability to establish land routes that allow for travel across the frozen oceans without boats
-Enhanced cold-resistant tech
-Colonization system using political power to spend on claims and expeditions that can fail or over-achieve

NATIONS
-More comprehensive USA path with parts of the US (LA, NYC, Alaska) still under US control or puppets
-Addition of Iceland and Greenland as starting countries that can colonize Scandinavia/Quebec/Nunavut/Scotland
-Addition of Japan as a starting country in the Northern-most/mountainous regions
-Addition of Siberia as a starting country near the coastline in Vladivostok
-Addition of South Africa as a starting country concentrated around Cape Town
-Addition of Tibet region as a starting country
-Addition of Peru-Chile-Bolivia Andes region as an Amerindian starting country
