Ah, yeah. A friend and I did a pretty thorough investigation of that, and it seems it was broken in one of the last updates 41 got. There's actually a very specific sequence in which it still "works" but if you leave the area, it breaks again.
I personally use the irrigation pipes and its add-on for vertical pipes, and have made some pretty ridiculous networks from those lol
I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by "re-plumbing". Is that a mod?
As far as the b42 questions go, I play online with friends so I haven't really played much of the new version at all. I've seen a few plumbing mods that may be up your alley, but I'd be surprised if this mod worked with them particularly well.
The "find rain collectors" cursor uses the same checks as the vanilla plumbing, so that MIGHT work, but the "find faucets" cursor only checks one floor down (since vanilla only works one floor down anyway).
Once 42 gets a bit more polished, I look forward to making the switch and continuing to make mods.
