Thank you for the report. I just tried to reproduce your issue but I was always able to choose which way to take in the snowy area. It could be just a bug in the game because I myself can't control the logic of choosing a direction, it is done by the game. So I hope this was just temporary. Should the issue appear again then I will take a closer look.
