Doldrum Court

It starts as a breeze.
Moving. Rising. Twisting. Taking shape, taking form.

It accumulates to a great torrent.
Overwhelming, overpowering, overgrowing. A great golden age among the skies. A hundred legendary legions flow through the firmament riding great blades as citizens sit serenly behind the clouds. An empire eternal, beyond the beauty of their world below.

It dissipates into the clouds.
Fading, weakening, squandering. Worn by the winds of time, even a kingdom etched into the heavens is eroded as all else. Swords swiftly sink, one by one, swallowed by the earth as an era comes to its collapse. Like the dawn after a storm, yesterday gives way to tomorrow, and a once great tempest is reduced to stray currents, battered and forgotten, sworn to the sky.

I strain my ears one last time for an answer.
Silent, though the wind remains.
