The Storm over the Strait

描述
The Storm Over the Strait
In the winter of 1991, with the world’s eyes fixed on the U.S.-led coalition’s swift and overwhelming dismantling of Iraq during Operation Desert Storm, China seized the opportunity to launch a bold and meticulously planned invasion of Taiwan. The People's Liberation Army (PLA), emboldened by America’s preoccupation with the Middle East and the belief that global powers were too distracted to respond, unleashed its plan under the codename Operation Iron Unification.

The Blitz
In early February, the invasion began with a series of cyber attacks targeting Taiwan’s infrastructure. Power grids, communication networks, and military systems were paralyzed, leaving the island nation struggling to coordinate a defense. Simultaneously, a massive missile barrage crippled key Taiwanese airbases, naval ports, and radar installations, rendering their early warning and aerial countermeasures ineffective.
After 2 days of missile strikes raged, Chinese warships, submarines, and landing forces left ports along the strait and East China Sea to group up an initiate a naval invasion of Taiwan, hoping to capture Taipei before 3rd party intervention. The PLA Air Force (PLAAF) have been assessed to flying their H-6’s in the strait to counter any US or allied ships. Sub screening forces are scouring the strait for any allied subs ahead of the main landing fleet.

The US Reacts
As the invasion unfolded, the U.S. faced a dire dilemma. With the bulk of its military assets tied up in the Persian Gulf, America is scrambling to muster a coherent response. Diplomacy faltered; the UN Security Council was paralyzed by China's veto power and a lack of consensus among major powers.
With limited naval and air force’s on alert, the US has scrambled 3 submarines from 7th Fleet to the strait while TF 70.1, a Ticonderoga-Class Cruiser and 2 Oliver Hazard Perry Frigates steam back from a Joint US-Philippines exercise in the Philippine Sea. US Air Force has dispatched a flight of B-52’s from the US and Kadena Air Base has alerted all flying units to interdict the invasion forces. The world waits to see if the small force of the Americans are enough to stop this invasion
