A 1997 PowerCore project, to enhance snow visibility and arctic travel. Ultimately, they ended up selling to civilians, "because the design wasn't fit." so the choice was, sell to civilians, or go in the freezing arctic with a tight deadline losing their only Snowcrawler.

Luckily, though, as the Snowcrawlers rolled out of production line and into civilians' backyards, they were mass-produced and saved from potential extinction.
