The Atlantic. West of Iceland. October 17, 1987.
WWIII just broke out less than a week ago. You're the Commander of Task Group 27.2 escorting two Fast Sealift Ships bound to Iceland. Your mission is not only to bring the vehicle cargo ships safely to Reykjavík but also to intercept and destroy a powerful Soviet Surface Action Group codenamed 'Berkut' which succeeded in breaking through the GIUK gap and now threatens NATO's lines of communications. Be ready for some serious vampire spam Commander!

OPERATION ORDER

From: COMSTRIKFLTLANT.
To: The Commanding Officer, TG 27.2.
CC: ISCOMICELAND.
Date: October 17, 1987.

SITREP: Soviet Surface Action Group 'Berkut', consisting in a missile-cruiser and at least 2 frigates/destroyers took advantage of the past 48 hours severe weather conditions to avoid visual and satellite detection and successfully broke through the GIUK gap. SAG Berkut last reported position, today at 02:00 Zulu, was northwest of Iceland on coordinates 66°14'N / 25°33'W, on course 185.

ORDERS:
1) Locate, identify, engage and destroy SAG Berkut.
2) Proceed to RDV ZONE before 15:00 Zulu and wait for further instructions.

INTEL: Presence of enemy subs and air assets is probable. COMSUBEASTLANT informed us a British SSN has been tasked to patrol the area. Consequently DO NOT engage any submarine contact before it is identified as hostile.
