Norwegian Sea, May 15, 1989, 0900 hours LT.

SITREP: It has been 24 hours since hostilities began between NATO and the Warsaw Pact forces. You are the Commander of US Task Group 20.41. Your Task Group has been earmarked to evacuate US diplomatic staff fleeing the advance of Soviet forces. The VIPs were taken on board USS Dale (CG-19) and guided-missile frigate USS Doyle (FFG-39).

ORDERS: Your orders are to escape south and reach the safety of the Norwegian air cover zone before the Soviets forces catch up with you. Air cover from Norwegian fighters and maritime patrol aircrafts begins about 50 nmi south of your current position.

Your ships are to observe strict EMCON - no radar or radio transmissions - until enemy units are passively detected. Avoid any engagements, if possible. Use the coastline to limit possible enemy approach routes.
