Light Bridge Footstep Sounds

It's always bothered me that Combine forcefields use the default, concrete footstep sounds, so, back in 2020, I made a quick little addon to change it.

This addon ports the Hard Light Bridge surface property from Portal 2, and adds it to the Combine forcefield materials. It pretty much only effects the Episode One Citadel, but I'm sure it could work in some custom maps too.

Unfortunately, not all surfaces are effected due to an oddity with how the game handles entity collision. Certain dynamic objects override all footstep sounds, forcing them to be the generic concrete steps. Specifically, it's a problem with brush entities that don't use the "Solid BSP" keyvalue. Additionally, a lot of force fields use an invisible material for the top surfaces, so the game will use those footstep sounds instead. Fixing both of those would require recompiling maps, so there's nothing I can really do.
