Makes the Lifestyle Implants research more efficient.

It's much easier to get food bonuses in the game as compared to minerals. Food also isn't used in any advanced resources, whereas minerals are. This makes it a resource that's constantly in demand. Since you're using a resource that has more uses (minerals) to reduce the upkeep of one that has less (food), it stands to reason that it shouldn't be a 1:1 exchange.

Effect: Food upkeep reduction remains the same at -0.5. Mineral upkeep is reduced from +0.5 to +0.3 instead.

I find the logic behind this mod fascinating. I disagree with it, to be clear - minerals may be more valuable than food, but they're equally easy to produce, and this one research stops you from needing to invest into producing it.

Still, neat that this exists.

I like this mod. Unlike Industrial Density which feels fair and not that bad of a trade, all this tech does is reduce food upkeep (which you're already only using for population at that point) for minerals which you need to build and maintain your buildings and units.
