"were never supposed to" Tbf that changes nothing. After all, it's not some fundamental law of physics that some game feature must or mustn't have one implementation or another. Keen didn't make them so, because Keen don't give a rat's arse about a nice game. As long as it's not so completely unusable that not even the most pain-tolerant fanboys can shout and agitate around it anymore, they don't lift even a link of a finger. Because making a game is not their business. Making their stupid AI is (supposedly), and because it's still not a product anyone wants to buy, they need some way to fund its development. Thankfully, as long as it's just a little bit shiny, players will pay for damn near anything. Especially console jockeys (who already have a twisted sense of expectations), which is why they divided their dev forces even more and crowbarred this joke onto those castrated and locked down entertainment set-top boxes for the TV shelf.

Andersenman, blocks were never supposed to have complex animations in the first place. The game simply doesn’t have proper support for them. I hope SE2 would get dedicated tools for making block animations specifically and stuff like skeletal animations for blocks instead of subparts
