Constantinople And Jerusalem Models

描述
This mod adds two sprawling, realistic models for the most iconic and emblematic cities in the medieval world.

The Holy City: Jerusalem

Major buildings include:
  • The Dome of the Rock, sitting on Temple Mount, the great stone platform believed to be the remains of the Second Jewish Temple
  • The Al-Aqsa Mosque, also on Temple Mount, which was temporarily used as a palace by the frankish kings of Jerusalem, then as headquarters of the Order of the Templar Knights
  • The Holy Sepulchre, holy sanctuary for all Christians, built on the place where Christ is believed to have been crucified and resurrected
  • The Tower of David, a great fortress dating back to the 2nd century BC

The Queen of Cities: Constantinople

Major recognizable monuments and buildings include:
  • The Theodosian Walls, impressive city walls that have protected the byzantine empire from collapse and invasion for a millenia
  • The aqueduct of Valens, which brought freshwater to the large population of Constantinople for centuries
  • The Forum of Theodosius, believed to be the largest forum in Constantinople
  • The Forum of Constantine, crowned by the majestic column of Constantine
  • The Hippodrome, symbol of the Roman heritage of Constantinople, where horse races took place well into the Middle Ages
  • The Arsenal, home of the once-mighty imperial fleet
  • The Augustaion, with its great Column of Justinian, which marks one of the entrances to the imperial palace
  • The Great Palace, with the Chrysotriklinos (one of many throne rooms in the complex) and the Boukoleon Palace (the Basileus' private harbor)
  • And last but not least, the Haghia Sophia, by far the largest church in the known world for many centuries

This model will entirely replace the existing vanilla model for the city of Constantinople.

amazing graphs guys! Constantinople looks great, but is the circular spot supposed to be for Selymbria castle? Because the positioning is a bit off and the castle intersect with the building in the circular. But for Jerusalem I also have the issue where it is wrongly oriented and a small part of the city (bottom left) seems to be missing.

Could you please add a model for the Third Jewish Temple ?
Gyles  [作者] 6 月 19 日 上午 11:26
For all those who have been asking, yes I have a Rome model underway, but there is no telling when I will finish it.

The circular gaps are meant to reflect how the city expanded only along the main road axis beyond a certain point. During the entire time period, the actual "city" never reached all the way to the Theodosian Walls, and there were farmlands and monasteries between the edge of the densely populated areas and the city walls.
