Mac-Lutum BD-1MB

The Mac-Lutum BD-1MB is a large track-type tractor designed and manufactured by a joint venture of Mac Automotive Company and Lutum Steelworks. It is sold as either a bulldozer or a backhoe loader. To save on development cost, the single tractor chassis is intended to be able to meet both civilian and military needs and as mentioned, comes in either a bulldozer or a backhoe loader variant. The backhoe loader requirement meant the seating can swivel and has a second set of control sticks facing the rear despite not being used on the bulldozer variant. The bulldozer is equipped with a detachable large blade and a rear ripper attachment. The tractor features very wide tracks to minimize ground pressure while having a curvature on the track's lower run to reduce the contact patch on hard surfaces improving its turning circle. Although slow, the vehicle has high power to weight and combined with the track design, makes it highly maneuverable and capable of traversing any soil type.
